Hi!
My name is Nina Hughes.
I am the CEO & Founder of Box of TENS.
My Story
Box of TENS was created straight from my heart—and my home. The name itself is personal: TENS stands for Tyler, Ethan, Nicole, and Steven—the first and middle names of my children. They are my world, and this business is rooted in the love, creativity, and care I’ve always poured into them.
It all started with my daughter, Tyler. When she was heading off to sleepaway camp for the first time, I wanted to send her something more than just the basics. I wanted her to feel connected to home, to know she was thought about, and to feel a little extra love when the homesickness kicked in. So I began creating personalized care packages—thoughtful, themed, and filled with small comforts that meant something to her.
Over time, those care packages became more than just “mom’s camp tradition.” They became my signature way of showing care—for friends, family, coworkers, anybody going through a moment that called for support, celebration, or even just a smile. And that’s how Box of TENS was born. What started as a gesture of love for my kids grew into a full-blown business designed to help everyone give that same feeling of connection and care to the people they love.
Then came the candy boxes—those were inspired by fun memories, too. I’ve always believed that nostalgia is powerful. The way someone lights up when they see a candy from their childhood? That moment of surprise, of remembering? That’s magic. So I started making decade-themed candy boxes that sparked those joyful, funny, and sweet memories we all need from time to time. They’re not just candy—they’re time machines in a box.
Box of TENS isn’t just about gifting. It’s about “emotion”. It’s about showing people that you’re thinking about them in a meaningful, creative way. Whether it’s a C.A.R.E. package to comfort someone going through a tough season, or a candy box to say “remember when?”, every item is put together with heart and intention.
I created this business because I know how important it is to feel seen. And I believe that even the smallest gestures—a handwritten note, a nostalgic treat, a scented candle—can speak volumes. Box of TENS gives people a way to say what sometimes feels hard to say: You matter! I see you! I care!
This is more than a business for me. It’s a legacy of love from a mother to her children, and from a woman who truly believes in the healing, joyful power of thoughtful connection.
